New method to learn English effectively

I'm still accumulating experience to learn English. A method I've recently found is watching movie in English and writing down about what you understood. In fact, we use it in the class. What you notice is that you don't need to write just one big conclusion after finished, but try to conclude interesting and funny scenes. I've tried this method and it was effective.
